Meat Market (Butcher)

Location: 3290 Doniphan
Work Schedule: Hours & Days Vary (afternoon position)
ROP: $9.00/hr.

SUMMARY: Individuals first business priority is to assist any customer or potential customer. Nothing is more important than being courteous, friendly, helpful, and prompt in the attention you give to customers.
PRIMARY DUTIES: Report to supervisor before beginning shift for daily duties and responsibilities. Complete duties/responsibilities in a safe and timely manner. Since the majority of merchandise needs to be refrigerated time is an important factor. Having knowledge of the department including: prices, weight of boxes, names of meats and seafood, and rotation, so they can be implemented on a daily basis. Unload truck and breakdown pallets of merchandise. Keep meat market area clean and clear of all potential hazards. Make sure pricing is correct.
SECONDARY DUTIES: Cleaning that includes but is not limited to sweeping, mopping, washing floors and equipment, and removing trash. Check floors hourly to make sure they are clean. Keep warehouse and coolers clean. Make sure items are well displayed, fresh and available for all customers. Learn to use the bailer. Crush cardboard and make bails. Help other departments when needed.

Requirements: Previous experience is required. Must have Food Handlers Card. Must be able to speak, read and write in English.

Physical Demands of Job:
Stand and walk for several hours at a time. Carry/lift up to 60 lbs. unassisted, but always ask for help when needed. Know and follow the Company’s Safety Program at all times. Know proper methods of using a box cutter, pallet jack, hand trucks, and proper stacking merchandise techniques. Those authorized to work saw, grinder, mixer, (any equipment), must use as manufacturer states. All equipment manuals are located in the stores office for review if in doubt. Employees must wear necessary clothing and equipment to perform job in a safe manner at all times. Work several shifts; Company runs on customer’s needs and is open 7 days a week. Every department has a dress code and must be followed. Work in cold refrigerator temperatures and varying outside temperatures as well. Encourage sales to all potential Customers.
