Stainless Steel Welder (Food Processing)

JOB SUMMARY: We are looking for an experienced welder with specialized knowledge in stainless steel welding to join our team. As a Stainless Steel welder, you will be responsible for fabricating, installing, and repairing stainless steel equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
• Welding and Fabrication: Perform TIG and MIG welding on stainless steel materials for food processing machinery, conveyors, tanks, and pipes. Ensure all welds meet the required strength and quality standards.
• System Installation and Repair: Install and repair stainless steel equipment, including food processing machinery, storage tanks, pipelines, and HVAC systems, ensuring they are fully operational and meet sanitation standards.
• Hygiene Compliance: Ensure that all stainless steel welds and installations are carried out in compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA, GMP). Maintain a high level of cleanliness and sanitation in welding and fabrication areas.
• Inspection and Quality Control: Inspect welded joints and fabricated parts for defects, cleanliness, and compliance with company and regulatory standards. Perform tests on welds and systems to ensure their durability and integrity.
• Maintenance Support: Assist in the maintenance of food processing equipment by repairing or replacing worn or damaged stainless steel parts to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices. Follow all OSHA guidelines and food safety standards to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
• Tool and Equipment Care: Maintain and repair welding tools, equipment, and machinery, ensuring they are in good working condition. Report any malfunctions or safety hazards promptly.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
• Experience: Minimum of [2] years of welding experience, with extensive experience in welding stainless steel, particularly in food processing environments.
• Certification: AWS (American Welding Society) or equivalent welding certifications preferred. Additional food safety training or certifications (e.g., HACCP) are a plus.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in TIG and MIG welding techniques, with a solid understanding of welding metallurgy and the properties of stainless steel. Familiarity with food processing systems and equipment is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of Food Safety Standards: Understanding of food industry hygiene and sanitation standards (FDA, USDA, GMP) and the ability to work within these guidelines.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to inspect, measure, and ensure the quality and precision of welds, with a focus on hygiene and safety standards.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong troubleshooting skills to identify welding issues and implement effective solutions quickly.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Previous experience in a food processing plant or similar manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with maintenance and repair of food processing machinery.
• Knowledge of welding automation systems and robotic welding is a plus.
• Experience with various types of welding equipment, including orbital welding machines.
• Rate of pay is contingent upon experience, certification and successful completion of skill testing.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Work is primarily conducted in a food processing plant or industrial setting.
• Occasional exposure to high-temperature environments, fumes, and cleaning chemicals.
